Quick Update With a Fluxer Shill

A Brief, vague update.

For quite some time now I’ve been wanting to make another post. The issue at hand is I haven’t had any idea on what I’d actually write. Seeing as it’s been over three years since I last posted, I figured now would be a good time to put something online.

I’ve since gotten a new job, much more fulfilling, yet more stressful, which has tapered down my drive to tinker with Linux. My passion for tech is still strong, but my time and energy is often better spent on the new friends I’ve made over the years.

Care to chat? Come say hi!

As time has gone on, I’ve grown to resent Discord nearly as much as I depend on it. Its mobile app redesign was a significant downgrade in my opinion, and I only ever hear discouraging news about the platform; most recently, it’s move towards age verification has upset quite a number of people.

With this recent change, I’ve once again continued the ritual of window shopping various potential alternatives. In the past, I’ve never felt like I could properly stick to one of these platforms until now. Recently, I registered an account on Fluxer.

It’s still a relatively small project currently led by one developer, and it’s a little rough around the edges as it matures through this rapid expansion phase of people rushing in droves. In practice, once those edges are polished up by squashing a few bugs, it looks and feels like a 1:1 slot-in replacement, which I’m genuinely excited to see come to fruition. I’ve gone forth and put the money down for their “Visionary” tier, mainly because I hope to see this project strive and grow into a viable alternative to Discord.
